The Gujarati-born Desai was born on 13 February 1986 in Nagaon, Assam, India. She is the daughter of Ajay Desai and Rasila Ajay Desai. Her father passed away when she was a young child, and the entire responsibility of raising her and her brother, Gaurav, fell on her mother’s shoulders.
She did her schooling in Mumbai and then joined Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics to pursue a diploma course in Tours and Travels. She also did some acting in films and television, before moving to the big screen with her role as Tapasya Thakur in Colors TV’s Uttaran.
After her success in the television industry, she was spotted by director Ravi Chopra and was offered the role of Nikki Shrivastav in his serial Pari Hoon Main on Star One. She was praised for her performance in the series and received much recognition.
From there, she acted in many other popular shows such as Shhh Phir Koi Hai and Jhalak Dikhala Ja. She won several awards such as the Boroplus Gold award and the Big Star Entertainment Award.
She has been married to her co-star Nandish Sandhu on 12 February 2012. They divorced in 2015 after a few years of marriage and are currently living separately.
Rashami has a son named Hardik who was born in 2019. She has been very fond of animals and owns a pet dog, Oreo. She is an avid fan of Lord Ganesha and has a deep devotion to him.
In her spare time, she likes to listen to Indian classical music. She has a habit of exercising regularly to stay fit and healthy.
Her mother has been her biggest inspiration and she is a big follower of Ganesha. Her mother also helped her in getting a proper education.
