Kantara soars past 200 crore worldwide, beats KGF Chapter 2 to become most-watched film ever in Karnataka

Kantara has crossed the 200 crore mark at the box office worldwide. The movie was released with almost no promotion or marketing and yet it has managed to reach the mark in just one week. Even though the film has been released in Kannada and Tamil versions, it has done well in other languages. As a result, the makers have decided to release dubbed versions of the film in these languages.

Kantara has been a huge hit in India, with over Rs 150 crore of domestic sales. The film is on track to break the record set by KGF: Chapter 1, which grossed Rs 238 crores during its theatrical run. The film is now only two films away from becoming the second-highest grossing Kannada film of all time, behind KGF: Chapter 1 and RRR.

With a budget of Rs eight crore, Kantara has opened in the Indian market in a big way. Despite its limited budget, the film has already surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark and is predicted to cross Rs 200 crore in its lifetime. If the momentum continues, Kantara may even surpass the first KGF film. The Malayalam version of the film is expected to open today, which will further boost the film’s earnings.

Kantara has received widespread praise from critics and audiences alike. It was praised for its powerful performances, excellent direction, writing and production design. The film’s action sequences, and technical aspects also received praise. It has become the biggest movie of the year so far in India, and it’s only going to continue to soar higher.

Kantara is the third Kannada film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. Its debut release in Karnataka has already beaten Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2’s Rs 1,200 crore worldwide total. It’s also the highest grossing Kannada film in the state, beating out KGF: Chapter 1 by over six crore.

The Hindi version of the movie released the day before the Telugu and Tamil versions. It has performed well in the northern belt, reaching the 15 Cr nett mark, and looks likely to surpass the 20 crore nett mark in its second weekend. It is also one of the biggest releases of Diwali.

The box office success of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ has triggered a gifting frenzy in the industry. The movie, which also stars Fahadh Fasil and Suriya, has pushed the total box office collection past 200 crore worldwide. Its makers are now giving gifts to the film’s stars. In addition to a Lexus car, Kamal Haasan has also gifted a Rolex watch to the director of the movie.
