Kerala Court Restrains Kantara Makers From Playing the Song Varaha Roopam Without Permission

The makers of the Kantara film have been stopped from playing the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ without permission, after a popular music band named Thaikudam Bridge filed a copyright infringement suit against them. The music composer, music director, and film producer were injuncted by the court from playing the song in public without permission.

The rock band Thaikkudam Bridge filed the lawsuit claiming that the movie Varaha Roopam was plagiarised from its song ‘Navarasam’. The film makers were ordered by the Principal District Court in Kozhikode to stop playing the song. They are also prohibited from playing the song on streaming platforms.

A lawsuit filed by the band alleging copyright infringement was filed in Kerala against the Kantara makers. The lawsuit is being pursued by the band and the film’s producers. Thaikkudam Bridge, a popular music group from Kerala, has filed a lawsuit against the film. The film’s producers and director were ordered to stop playing the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ on streaming platforms.

The film has become an unexpected hit in India, surpassing the box office record of Ponniyin Selvan 1. The film is being dubbed into several languages and is a surprise blockbuster.
