Sofia Hayat is an English actress, model and television personality. She is of British Asian descent and grew up in a Muslim family.
She is a graduate of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Performing Arts with a focus on acting. She is a fan of the Meisner Technique, which she studied for seven years.
She began her career in 2003 and has since appeared in a variety of shows and movies. She has played a variety of roles including Shanti in Absolute Power, Zuki in Footballers Wive$:
Overtime, Sloman in The Midnight Beast, Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki, Comedy Nights Bachao, Waterloo Road, Superdude, Cash and Curry, Diary of a Butterfly, Naachle London, Bollywood Carmen, Aksar 2, Six X and Jonathan Creek among others.
Her most notable role was that of Dharmi in the independent comedy film Cash and Curry which won her many awards and accolades. She also starred in the film Diary of a Butterfly and was nominated for a BAFTA Award.
After she was evicted from Bigg Boss 7 in 2013, she made headlines for revealing that she was molested by Armaan Kohli during the show. She filed a complaint against him, and he was arrested.
She also travelled the world to ancient temples, pyramids, churches and mosques in a quest to find a higher divine energy that she believed exists within all of us. She then left the celebrity world, becoming a spiritual guru and advising many celebrities on their spiritual paths.
Sofia was also a singer, dancer and actress. She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and BAFTA in England, and she has been a bassist for Jazz legend Louiz Bankz.
In July 2012, Vogue Italia named her the new “Curvy Icon” and she was listed #81 on FHM’s S*xiest Women in the World list. She has also appeared on many television and radio programs and has been a guest speaker at numerous events.
Her work as a musician has earned her a nomination for the BBC’s Young Writer Award in 2011. She has also appeared in the musical Life After Death which she wrote, directed and starred in at the age of 17.
In 2016, Sofia embraced spirituality and became a nun under the name Gaia Sofia Mother. She then traveled the world to ancient temples, pyramids, and churches and she travelled to India and Africa to help people in need. She is currently living in London and teaches people how to live a spiritual life.
